New York Blower is a company with a long history of success etched in the best tradition of the American free-enterprise system. Spanning the decades from 1889, we have experienced remarkable growth and have played an active role in leading the entire air-movement industry forward.

1889
The Mathis brothers, 28-year-old J.W. and 24-year-old August, open a sheet-metal shop on the
south side of Chicago, establishing the Mathis Brothers Company.
1894
The brothers purchase The New York Blower Company, a fan manufacturer headquartered in New York City, whose factory was located in Bucyrus, Ohio.
1919
The plant is moved to La Porte, Indiana and New York Blower Company becomes one of the 12 founding companies of the National Association of Fan Manufacturers.
1932-1933
Even in the toughest period of the Great Depression, nyb doesn’t lay off any employees, but places everybody on part time status instead.
1941
The company serves the War effort and nyb fans are widely used by The Pentagon, Ford Bomber, Bendix Aviation, General Motors, The US Navy, etc.
1944
nyb launches the standard General Purpose Fan and begins standardization of all product lines.
1959
The Air Movement and Control Association International (AMCA) is founded. Its mission is to establish test standards for air-moving equipment. The New York Blower Company becomes a charter member. The AcoustaFoil® airfoil blower wheel is introduced.
1961
nyb introduces its line of Pressure Blowers. They are nyb's most successful product ever.
1962
The first line of fiberglass fans is launched.
1980
Mechanovent Corporation begins manufacturing OEM fan components at a new facility in La Porte, Indiana.
1989
nyb celebrates the 100th Anniversary of the company.
2001
nyb and Mechanovent, a New York Blower subsidiary, open the Effingham plant, the first production facility outside of La Porte,
Indiana since 1918.
2003
nyb acquires TLT-Babcock, Inc. TLT-Babcock provides custom engineered axial fans, centrifugal fans, dampers, and ash-handling systems to the utility, industrial and construction industries.
2006
nyb and Mechanovent add a line of Square Fans to the portfolio, further enhancing the position of the company in the air-movement industry.
2007
nyb continues to lead the air-movement industry forward.
