Environmental Testing

There are multiple types of environmental testing available. nyb tests paint samples in our fog chamber in accordance with ASTM B 117 for 100 hours.  The samples are prepared by measuring the paint thickness. On one of two of the required samples of the same paint and preparation method we scribe through the paint to the base metal.  The chamber is prepared by letting it heat up to the required temperatures and by pH balancing a deionized 5% salt solution held in a reservoir.  This solution is then converted to a salt fog inside the chamber.
