NEW VIDEO RELEASE: Installation Instructions for Spring Isolation
In this video, we review the installation process for OCT Spring Isolators.
Isolators can play an important role in a fan installation as they are used to ensure fan vibrations are not transmitted in to the mounting structure. Isolation should also be used in conjunction with flex connectors to avoid rigid connections with the system or ductwork, allowing the fan to move freely.
Installation Steps:
- Elevate the fan assembly to operating height and insert blocks to hold the fan in position. (Reference nyb's IM-510 for riggninf and hoisitng instructions.)
- Place the isolators on a level surface and align them with the bolt holes of the mounting base of fan base bars. Consult nyb certified drawings for proper location based on isolator weight capacity and fan assembly weight distribution to ensure each isolator is placed in the corresponding location.)
- Insert the leveling bolt though the fan base and into the threaded hole on top of the isolator housing until the bolt contacts the spring pressure plate.
- Adjust the isolator deflection by turning the leveling bolt clockwise until the spring compresses, the top of the isolator housing rises, and the housing contacts the fan base.
- Repeat the process of adjusting isolator deflection while alternating isolators to ensure an individual spring does not collapse.
- Continue to alternate isolators and turn the leveling bolts until the fan floats freely above the blocks.
- Ensure the fan is level and secure it in place by tightening the lock nuts on each isolator firmly against the base.
- Remove the blocks.
