Containment
The containment of volumes of contaminated air, odors or other emissions can require specialized fan equipment. Industrial ventilation practice dictates that capture of these process materials is usually best accomplished at the source. The design of the hoods and systems necessary for these source capture tasks is a specialized skill. Usually these emissions are conveyed to a filtration or destruction device. The conveying velocities necessary for these systems are outlined in nyb Engineering Letters. Fans are located on the clean side of these filters, but occasionally design requirements call for material-handling or corrosion-resistant fans.
